German Cockroaches

German cockroaches are the most common indoor cockroach pest in Arizona. Unlike outdoor species, they prefer to live exclusively inside, breeding rapidly in kitchens, bathrooms, and around appliances.

• Light tan to brown, about 1/2 inch long
• Two dark parallel stripes behind the head
• Adults have wings but rarely fly

German roaches hide in tight cracks near food, warmth, and water, behind refrigerators, under sinks, in dishwasher motors, and inside electronics. A single egg case (ootheca) carries 30–40 nymphs, fueling explosive population growth.

Major source of indoor allergens linked to asthma in children. Spreads Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and other foodborne pathogens by contaminating food prep surfaces.

• Inspect grocery bags, boxes, and used appliances before bringing them inside
• Clean grease and crumbs nightly
• Repair leaks under sinks and behind appliances
• Reduce cardboard storage in kitchens and pantries

Hydra uses targeted gel baits, insect growth regulators (IGRs), and crack-and-crevice treatments behind appliances and in voids. Multi-visit programs are typically required to break the breeding cycle.
